Good news: The fall wedding season is back!

Autumn is the most popular season for weddings. According to a study published by The Knot, the most popular wedding months are September (15%), June (13%) and October (16%).

The pandemic has put a brake on the wedding industry but we are seeing signs of a comeback this year. Many weddings have been postponed, some even cancelled, but now due to the vaccinations and restrictions that have been lifted, the wedding business is likely to boom in the fall.

Venues, clothing stores, decor rental and event design companies have been restarting their business expecting a huge demand, many of them already facing a wave of requests.

It is a fun time for guests as well! What to wear at a wedding could be challenging although formality is the word that comes to mind first.

The first thing to do: get informed if there's any required dress code for the wedding you will attend unless this is mentioned on the invitation. If it is not, it would be a good idea to find out where the wedding will take place. Adapt your outfit to the environment and you will not be mistaken. Will the wedding happen in a hotel, on the beach, it is a garden, country house or lounge party ?

Whatever the dress code is, it is important to stay in line with your personality and not give in to clichés that do not suit you. Usually long formal dresses are the safest bet, but a stylish cocktail dress would be a good choice as well.

Keep in mind that you will spend some time wearing these clothes, so the comfort is something to consider. Some weddings are less formal than others; it is not unusual to see semi-formal attire on an invitation, although some guests could think jeans is an acceptable thing to wear to a wedding!

What about fabrics and colors? A fall wedding guest could choose among silk, crepe, satin or even velvet. You can try sapphire blue, ruby red and burgundy, amethyst purple or plum, and emerald green slightly bluish but more saturated colors such as pink or red will work too. Autumnal floral printed dresses might work too, mostly when the color palette includes deep orange, red, brown, green.

When it comes to budgeting, especially when attending multiple weddings, this can be a delicate issue. Hopefully there are some cost-effective solutions that combine quality with affordability.

Let’s take a look to a few options that can give you some ideas for any upcoming wedding event or even for a night out.
